I‘ve always loved all those Christmas specials. From the marionette based classics like “Year Without a Santa Claus” and “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town”, to the classic cartoons like “Frosty the Snowman” and “Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown” (I’m a bit of a purest, so revamps of the classics like “Frosty Returns” and “Olive, the Other Reindeer” make me wanna barf).

But when it comes to laugh-out-loud Christmas hilarity, Rankin/Bass’ 1964 classic “Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer” wins hands down. Besides the fact that throughout the film, Santa, the adult reindeer, and the Head Elf are total jerks throughout the film, insulting the poor young Rudolph, making fun of his deformity, publicly humiliating him and treating him like a freak quite literally from the day he was born, one scene has me coming back for more year after year:

I’m not sure when I first caught this blooper, but few have in the 40+ years the special has been running on TV, which makes it very special to me. I clipped the appropriate parts and uploaded it to YouTube for all to enjoy. How many of you have had days like this?

So the next time you thing YOU’RE having a bad day, just think of this video. I swear, it helps! – Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
