I voted here in North Galveston County this morning and the early voting line was 30 minutes, longer than the last time I voted ON election DAY! I ran into two neighbors who told me they voted "straight Republican" and said this was a "most important election!" Not sure if the big turnout is due to NEW energized Democrats or "scared-out-of-their-minds" Republicans who fear a black president. However, my partner and I didn't tell our neighbors how we voted, that we had just cancelled their vote! We just smile in a neighborly way.

On our League City cul-de-sac of 11 homes, only one McCain-Palin sign is up in a yard and no Obama-Biden signs. We are good friends with the neighbors with "the sign" and don't wish to ruffle feathers. They are Southern Baptists who often invite my partner and I over for beers or Margaritas. They keep us in fresh home-grown tomatoes and deer sausage. They also babysit our cats when we go out of town.

My staunch Republican brother in Cypress and my Republican sister in Spring, TX are voting for their first Democrats EVER as they are "moderate" and cannot stand Sarah Palin. My brother said if Romney had been selected as a running mate, he may have stayed with the GOP. My sister, widow of a Republican state legislator and a personal friend of Kay Bailey Hutchinson would have stayed in the GOP if Sen. Hutchinson had been a running mate, too. I think many educated and "thinking" Republicans may vote Obama in the privacy of the booth....maybe even the neighbors who we met this morning. Would love to see Texas give its electors to Obama.
