Comments on: April Fools? Obama opens drilling to draw GOP votes. Will he ever learn? Recording history for those who seek to rewrite it. Sun, 04 Apr 2010 15:47:49 +0000 hourly 1 By: sfsmskater Sun, 04 Apr 2010 15:47:49 +0000 This is really Obama’s plan to move everything to the right.

By: fastfeat Thu, 01 Apr 2010 18:13:29 +0000 I agree with Grant. I think that this will probably be a whole lot of nothing (very little oil in the short AND long-term, very little ‘Thug support for Obama in the end). I suppose a fair number of jobs could be generated in the short-term, however.

I almost want to see these guys drill the Hell out of the area and drain whatever small amounts of oil are there in NO TIME. That way, we can at least give scientists some credit by saying, “See, we told you there wasn’t shit out there.” If only it could all be done before 2012…

And raising CAFE standards to 35 MPG is GREAT news. Wait for the shit to hit the fan from the auto industry in the coming weeks, of course.

By: Grant in Texas Thu, 01 Apr 2010 16:18:25 +0000 The Houston Chronicle warns today, “Don’t break out the drilling rigs quite yet.
The Obama administration’s new plan for offshore exploration and drilling through 2017 will face public comments at several stages as it jumps through various regulatory hoops. These could include environmental studies, air permit applications, seismic study applications and then, if a successful lease sale occurs, applications for drilling permits.”

What is funny is that many of the “Drill Baby Drill” boyz and girlz are now upset with Obama!!! Of course anything Obama does will be opposed 180 degrees by many Republicans.

One positive is forcing auto manufacturers to raise the efficiency of their products by 10 mpg over current standards by 2016.
