Video: The Mythical Mandate (UPDATE! I was right)

Just a brief update before tomorrow’s Supreme Court ruling on The Affordable Care Act. As MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell pointed out last night, if the High Court rules “ObamaCare” unconstitutional because of a “mandate”, then they did so based upon SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT EXIST:

As O’Donnell points out, the “fine” for not complying is “less than $100”, and the “penalty” for failing to pay is… nothing. No fine, no liens, no jail time.

A full update following release of the verdict tomorrow.

UPDATE: The Supreme Court upheld the legality of The Affordable Car Act and the Insurance Mandate so long as it is enforced via a “tax” instead of a “penalty”… exactly as I predicted in my Predictions for 2012 (Prediction #10).

My partner rushed home to get the news since his 24 Hour Fitness Gym is one of many businesses that only plays Faux News.  Seems Faux this morning (unlike every other “news” outlet) didn’t play the Supreme Court ruling but instead had a bit about the important breakup of the Murdoch news empire.  But he overheard a guy calling somebody on his cell phone saying, “Oh well, it will be repealed next January!”  Like everything else, Romney gives no details about his plans other than say he will “repeal” and “replace” it!  With Romneycare, which now has over 98% of folks in Massachusetts covered (over 99% of children), be the model for Romney? Wanna bet the Republicans won’t “replace” it with anything.  The USA has the highest medical costs of any nation in the world but ranks 37th in quality of care in a study by the New England Journal of Medicine, our nation being eclipsed by all those industrialized nations that have universal coverage.  http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp0910064

The MOST asinine statement yet by the great teabagger, Sen. Rand Paul who says, “Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to
be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so. The whole thing remains
    unconstitutional. :  http://paul.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=562
