Hi Mugsy! Sorry to hear of your conflict at C&L. I guess I’ll check in here to see what’s going on with you for the time being. Let us know where you start hanging your hat in the future. Thanks for not leaving us in the dark about your departure. I would have checked in here anyway if I stopped seeing you over there.
Thanks Rob, I certainly don’t think my simple request was deserving
of such a hostile response, and my mistreatment as a volunteer downright
offensive.

Hey Mugsy.Yeah, sounds like a definite lack of appreciation over there. I thought it was real chickenshit of Nicole to delete your post, whining that you shouldn’t post “Goodbye Cruel World” comments on THEIR threads. I was close to posting a reply to her, but a.) I wanted to hear the rest of the story and b.) she probably would have deleted it anyway.Anyhoo, all the best to you, and thanks for the many Sunday mornings we’ve spent together observing idiots behaving idiotically. I’ll be dropping by again.
A friend of mine still in the group told me of how the “Team”
exchanged a bunch of messages trashing me Sunday morning because I
called them “a petty clique” on my Facebook page (one person even
criticizing me for “what I must have written” in the post Nicole deleted before she got a chance to read it.)
Need I say more?

It is a clique, isn’t it? You either fit or you don’t, and it always seems arbitrary. Be well.

I lurk here every week dude. You have the touch. Good luck. Sorry to hear about your problems with C&L.

I’ve followed C&L for quite some time, and characterizing Nicole as a
“swaggering, tin-plated dictator with delusions of godhood” (to quote a
beloved episode from a very popular sci-fi TV series) would be putting
it mildly. Her petty public response is just further proof of it, and it
doesn’t really surprise me that the rest of the “C&L clique”
behaves much the same. She already banned me once for having a public
disagreement with them (I argued that users should be able to block
posts from C&L contributors — moderators excepted, of course — but
that’s a moot point now that they’ve switched to Disqus, which doesn’t
allow blocking *anyone*), and her actions then were just as petty and
nasty as hers were towards you. To be honest, there’ve been plenty of
times that I’ve considered giving up on C&L, but it *does* have lots
of good content, with the occasional exception of certain contributors
(*cough* Susie Madarak *cough*). I just lay low now and rarely comment,
which is a real shame because I enjoy the back-and-forth with other posters. When a site makes you afraid to contribute, it’s time to reconsider what you’re doing.
I still visit the site, but they can forget receiving any donations during their annual “fund drives”. I have no problem going back to enjoy the free content, and neither should you. 🙂

Oh, I definitely have no problem taking advantage of “free.” 🙂 The behavior of some people just tends to be a little much at times, that’s all. Just gotta let it flow over me like water off a duck’s back. (Still wish I could block Disqus posts, though. It’s the one feature from the “old” C&L that I miss, as it makes reading the talkbacks much less stressful.)
You made the same mistake I did of suggesting a perfectly rational change to the existing system, which results in Nicole going BSC and reacting as if you pushed her child into traffic.
Eventually, her insane tantrums will catch up with the site and start driving people away.
So, has Sen. John McCain appointed himself Secretary of State? He sneaked into Syria this Memorial Day weekend to talk to Syrian “rebels”. Does he really even know with whom he is talking? After all, some of the rebel groups are possibly linked to Al Qaeda and are no better suited to run that nation than Assad’s group. Seems McCain wants another war and is possibly undercutting our Commander-in-Chief.http://syriantaskforce.org/index.php/about-us/setf-blog/86-setf-mccain-trip

Here’s some food-for-thought:
No way McCain got in there w/o approval from the State Dept (if not the WH itself.)
