I find myself thinking of the day of the Rodney King verdict, where an outrageous abuse was CAUGHT ON VIDEO TAPE and STILL a jury was incapable of convicting the offenders and blamed the victim for his own injuries.

If Trayvon had been a white girl stalked by a man with a gun, and when confronted, tried to defend herself by fighting back only to be shot & killed by her stalker, would the verdict have been the same?

Unbelievable! Thanks to ALEC and SYG, it is no longer safe to walk the streets. All it would take is an armed, mentally unstable individual to feel threatened and, BANG, you’re dead.Welcome to vigilante AmeriKKKa

The ONLY way someone can come to the conclusion this was “self defense” is if you totally ignore how these two people came in contact with one another in the first place.

Q: Can rapists now shoot & kill their victims if they suddenly “fear for their life” when she defends herself?

In response to #5, the Florida State Attorney Angela Corey (appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to this case) charge a battered woman who got off a WARNING shot into the ceiling “standing her ground” to fend off her abusive husband who even had a restraining order against him. Angela got Marissa (BTW, both black and female) a 20 year prison sentencehttp://jacksonville.com/news/crime/2012-04-21/story/naacp-weighs-what-they-say-stand-your-ground-case-against-jacksonville-0

I honestly don’t think the State wanted to prosecute this case in the first place and threw on a token prosecution to placate the community. I first thought it was bumbling and incompetence by the prosecution while listening to attorney Lisa Bloom eloquently point out their deficiencies night after night on MSNBC. But the prosecution wasn’t sequestered; they had to be aware of critiques of their weak performances. Yet they did very little to drive home a cohesive theory of the crime; they consistently were on defense. When all was said and done, I truly think the prosecution, on direction from above below–pRick Scott/ALEC–took a dive.

I’m here in Florida now (about 35 mi from Sanford). Idiots next door were lighting off fireworks in celebration right after the verdict read. Go figure.

  9. Grant in Texas - July 14, 2013

Attorney Lisa Bloom, who made many comments to MSNBC throughout the trial, seemed upset with the prosecution all along.  She remarked that their witnesses weren’t properly prepared or tested prior to putting them on the stand, whereas the witnesses for the defense seemed well coached and prepared.Zimmerman was the only witness (even though his stories kept changing).  That George was instructed to stay put by the police dispatcher because the police were only a few minutes away evidently didn’t sway the white jury. Zimmerman disobeyed those instructions because, based upon his statements, he actually seemed to be looking for trouble, to push his weight around. A REAL police officer would’ve probably been more respectful when confronting Martin, asked him who he was visiting, maybe even escorting him to his parents’ home for his safety and to verify his story since he was a newcomer in the gated community. Zimmerman was a “cop wannabee”, believing he was a tough guy, a “martial arts trainee”.  Probably Zimmerman was most upset that he was getting bested (according to his story) by a skinny kid who was 60 lbs lighter.  Had to wonder seeing George in court if he had not intentionally (maybe advised by attorneys) put on all that weight just for the trial (like an actor for a role) in order to look like a big marshmallow.  Comedian Bill Maher wonders if George wasn’t really after Trayvon’s Skittles.  On the night of the murder, a more “in shape” Zimmerman seem to want a fight, and with a gun that Martin didn’t even know existed, had the “equalizer” that made him extremely dangerous.  And he is free to “police” the streets of Sanford again with his gun!!!The elephant in the court room was that it was ABOUT RACE, but the judge wouldn’t allow the word “racial” to be attached to profiling.

However, the defense tried their best (with the help of Fox News) to show irrelevant old pictures of Trayvon  like in tank top undershirt, showing off a “grill” to make him look like a scary black “fucking punk”…the latter words Zimmerman did use while talking to a police dispatcher.  (BTW, Justin Beiber sometimes wears a “grill” on his teeth http://24.media.tumblr.com/26d003e4b651e7e670731c687bc3c7c0/tumblr_mhaomh0sfz1rb4b4mo1_500.jpg ).

Trayvon’s High school friends claim they never saw him with a “grill”.  The same girl said that in fact  Trayvon was a “walk away” kind of guy who would avoid a fight whenever possible.

Hey c_l– good to see you got your technical issues worked out…

  11. cunning linguist - July 15, 2013

Thanks Feat, but props go to Mugsy for changing his Captcha parameters. As to the Zimmerman thing, I’ve said it often enough. The whole thing stinks from front to back, and we would all be a lot better off had the morons at the gas station with the firecrackers become contestants in the Darwin awards. But, alas, it’s FloriDuh, and the place is crawling with them…

Electing our first black president doesn’t mean we are a “post-racial” nation.  After all, Barack Obama didn’t get much help from most white voters in many states.  White Americans who make up around 75% of all voters only gave Obama 37% of their votes. White voters in Mississippi only gave the President 10% of their votes.http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/11/10/1159759/-Percent-of-White-vote-won-by-Obama-2012-by-state Obama only won because 95% of blacks and 2/3 of Latino and the “under 30” demographic gave him their votes. The bias is also revealed in the Congress where this black president has had many appointees to cabinet positions, department heads, and the bench rejected GOP filibusters equaling the total rejections of ALL appointees by the 43 presidents before him. Hate seethes daily from Fox News and right-wing hate radio. The “N” word may not be used as much in mixed company as it once was by non-blacks but that doesn’t mean that hate no longer resides in many hearts because most people don’t like to think of themselves as prejudiced thus don’t voice their true feelings. The University of Arkansas reveals that racism is alive and well:http://blairrockefellerpoll.uark.edu/6107.php

It amazies me people from miles away know nothing about the case only what people say. They have travon painted as a choir boy. He was a troubled young man suspension from school because of drugs. Was sent to stay with father divorced from his mother. He was 17 but headed down the wrong road. Listen to his text messages to friends about guns. If he had one Zimmerman would have been killed. Read the facts before joining others who know nothing about the case. Travon Martin was a thug .

  14. Admin Mugsy - July 21, 2013

If you are going to start down the road of “character assassination”, I suggest you take a firm look at Mr. Zimmerman as well.

Wannabe cop Zimmerman applied to the police academy and was rejected for having been arrested for fighting with a police officer in 2002. His young cousin anonymously called the police to report him for attempted rape. Prior to the shooting, he had called 911 47 times in 58 days already that year to report “a suspicious black man” roaming his neighborhood. And upon seeing Martin, decided then & there that this one wasn’t going to get away.

Two men went out that night, but only ONE was seeking a confrontation.

WRITER: Don’t you see? The guy was struggling for his life. The kid pushed him to the ground. He had to pull out a gun and shoot the kid.

  16. Admin Mugsy - July 29, 2013

Not sure if you’re serious or not. But just in case, you can’t shoot someone just because you’re losing a fight you started.

Where are these pictures posted “over and over” showing TM as “an innocent little kid with skittles”? how do you see a skinny beanpole teenager as someone “bigger than the average man”? he was 5’11 and 158 lbs. Could you be anymore dramatic? Same goes for all the violent behavior you claim TM had. “Trayvon was in lots of fights & boasted that he was good at it” uh ok and you know this how? TM was suspended from school 3 times. Once for writing graffiti on some old lockers – the suspected stolen jewelry was turned over to LE & turned up NOTHING regarding stolen jewelry. btw this occurred 9 months prior not “days before” got it? Another suspension was for skipping and tardiness. the 3rd suspension was for the pipe with pot residue. Nothing to do with violent behavior. There was no report of TM attacking anyone or hitting a bus driver. You’re just repeating a story by a right wing tabloid called The Daily Caller. They claim they got some tweets from TM’s twitter account which was taken down before the story published. how convenient. You use rumors as “facts”. you make up things he said & did without having the common sense to know how phony & childish they sound. Why are you so desperate to make someone look bad that you have to lie to do it?
