President Bush called for Israel to return to its pre-1967 borders.

This weeks update is short & sweet. President Obama took a lot of heat from Republicans this past week for suggesting that Israel consider a modified return to their pre-1967 borders (prior to the 1967 Arab/Israeli War) when attempting to negotiate a peace agreement with the Palestinians. As President Obama noted, what he said publicly was only what has been acknowledged in private for over two decades. Indeed, President Bush at the start of his final year, told Israelis WHILE IN ISRAEL… that they need to consider using… not only the pre-1967 borders… but the pre “Armistice lines of 1949” as a starting point for negotiations with the Palestinians:

None of yesterdays’ Sunday talkshows acknowledged this fact, let alone asked any of their many Conservatives guests or pundits what they thought of this hypocrisy.
